On the flat Amselpfad vineyard loop trail, you'll gain fascinating insights into the past.
UFFBASSE! – Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Be considerate on the trail— always act thoughtfully, kindly, and considerately toward everyone you meet along the way. This is especially important on farm roads, where winemakers, farmers, and foresters work even on weekends.
- Picnics & Trash – Remember to bring a trash bag with you and take your trash home with you. Use only the designated rest areas for breaks and picnics.
- Keep Dogs on a Leash—Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will appreciate it.
We, your fellow visitors, and nature will thank you!

Safety information
Use of Farm Roads —Our tours through the vineyards often take us along paths that we share with others. We therefore ask that you always be considerate and courteous toward others. Winemakers, farmers, and foresters use these farm roads through fields, forests, and vineyards for their daily work—even on weekends. Due to work activities and/or weather conditions, the trails may be particularly muddy at times. Extra caution is also required when crossing roads in and around the Palatinate villages. Trail closures and detours must be strictly observed.Dangerous Situations – Should an emergency arise, quick assistance is essential. And even though cell phones can transmit GPS signals, the traditional emergency points are often the fastest way to get help. These are located in places that are easily accessible to emergency vehicles. Make a note of the locations marked with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return to one of these locations and provide the number on the sign when you call 911. This way, emergency responders will know where to find you.

Roadbook
Continuing northward, you’ll come to the memorial site of the abandoned village of Bussingen. It commemorates the medieval settlement, first mentioned in 1265. The reasons for its decline remain shrouded in the mists of late medieval history. The rest area at this spot, with its sweeping view all the way to Hambach Castle, is the perfect place for a short break.
On the way back toward the Hainbach Valley, you’ll pass horse-head pumps that nod their heads tirelessly. Soon you’ll be back in the village, passing the Catholic church on your way to the starting point at Bachplatz, where a cool foot bath awaits you to round off the walk.

Equipment
Sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, sun and rain protection, and a sufficient supply of food and, above all, drinks—since places to stop for refreshments or shops aren’t always available or open—should be packed in your backpack for every hike. Although the trail is marked throughout, you should always carry a suitable map or a hiking app for safety reasons.Human-created
