Fagaras stage 4: Cabana Balea Lac - Cabana Podragul

From the Cabana Lac Balea, take the steep path marked with a red bar heading eastward to the Saua Caprei saddle. From here, a detour to the peaks Vf. Capra (2,494 m) or Vf. Vanatoarea lui Buteanu (2,507 m) is possible, each about 200 meters extra in elevation. Continue along the marking with the red bar to Portita Arpasului. Here the direct path to Cabana Podragul marked with a blue cross branches off - those unsure about the upcoming scrambling sections should use this; in bad weather, this alternative is also advisable.

Otherwise, continue along the main ridge passing some secured sections at Vf. Arpasu Mic. A small extra detour leads to Vf. Arpasu Mare (2,468 m), before passing Vf. Podragul to the Saua Podragului saddle. Here we switch to the path marked with a blue bar descending to Cabana Podragul.
