Safety information
Castle park tips for your route:
Provisions: Bring enough water to drink. A snack tastes especially good on the way.
Weather check: Best to check various services and ask locals familiar with the mountains, because it can quickly rain or thunderstorm in the mountains.
Companionship: You should not undertake a longer route alone, even if it appears easy and harmless. Always leave your route destination at your accommodation.
Ascent: Ascend slowly but steadily to protect your body. Running untrained in the mountains risks injury or mountain rescue deployment. Avoid hiking on unknown mountain paths at night.
Emergency: Be a helper in accidents! Get help at the next alpine hut or notify the mountain rescue service.
Distress signal: Give six signals per minute by waving, calling, or flashing, then pause for one minute.

From the parking lot of the Buchenbergbahn, walk 390 meters north along the sidewalk by the federal road.
At the visitor information, turn right into Bergstraße. Follow the small street about 450 meters uphill. Then turn right into Bachweg. Follow the path between the meadows for about 400 meters, then turn left onto the forest path and cross the stream. Follow the wild romantic path along the stream through the forest. After most of the hiking trail, you come out of the forest and can enjoy beautiful views. Then it is not far to the Buchenbergalm.
The return to the valley goes via the Kulturenweg. From the Buchenbergalm, walk a short distance down the gravel path to the playground. Turn right onto the forest path there. Follow this path back to the valley station of the Buchenbergbahn.

Equipment
Equipment: With good - broken-in - hiking shoes, you are safe and blister-free. Layering is key for clothing: a short and a long shirt (cotton dries poorly, so better wool or special sportswear), zipper pants, pullover, jacket and rain cape. Also pack change of clothes, head covering, sunglasses, sunscreen, first aid kit, and flashlight in the backpack.Localization
