Bretten/Dürrenbüchig: Hügelstürmerwege
Land der 1000 Hügel - Kraichgau-Stromberg
The Hügelstürmerwege Dürrenbüchig lead over the "Judenweg" (historic cattle drive path in the Middle Ages) to the Lugenberg (local mountain with an elevation of 266m). There are three route variants.
As a watershed between Walzbach/Pfinz and Saalbach, this part of the route could also be described as the border between Kraichgau and Pfinzgau. Here, there are distant views of the Kalmit in the Palatinate, the Katzenbuckel in the Odenwald, and the Black Forest. Via the Herrenwald, the hiking trail reaches the shelter hut in Schlosswald and then offers excellent views along the old border between Baden and the Electoral Palatinate of the dead-end village of Dürrenbüchig (original expression from SWR4), the smallest district of Bretten by area.
Main route: Follow the dark blue marking!
Shortcut over the pond and a section through Dürrenbüchig: Follow the red marking!
Extension through the forest south of the town: Follow the yellow marking!
