Those who take some time on the first section of the tour today can learn a lot about the Black Forest, its geology, and nature. On the spring experience trail and on the quality trail wildcat hiking experience, both of which we follow for a good while, information boards provide knowledge about the special features of nature and the environment in this hiking region. Then, after a steep ascent, we reach the legendary Westweg, which we leave again after about 7 km to descend to the Dobeltal wildlife enclosure. From there, the path initially leads us through the valley meadow and further through dense forest gently up to Rotensohl. Before we reach today's stage destination, we enjoy the magnificent view over the Rhine valley to the Vosges and the Palatinate Forest.

The path is not specially marked. Please orient yourself by the trail markings of the Black Forest Association. We recommend following the route additionally with GPX data.

    Roadbook

For easier orientation in the route description, we use the names of the signposts of the Black Forest Association (in bold).

From Bad Herrenalb / station our path first leads us over Bad Herrenalb center to the ruins of the Cistercian monastery Bad Herrenalb with its famous pine on the monastery wall of paradise. At Wurstberg we reach the spring experience trail which we follow until we get to the Albtal hunting lodge and the Sand pit. There we switch to the quality trail "Wildcat forest experience," circle the bird meadows and stay on the path until the Ski home Talwiese. Further on via Hülsgraben and Axtloh we steeply ascend to the Hahnenfalzhütte. Reaching the Westweg, we hike to the Weithäusleplatz. Over the Stierhütte, Mehlwegle, Pfützenhäusle, and Brenntenwald we descend to the Dobeltal wildlife enclosure. As the remaining stretch of today's stage is not signposted, we now have to rely on the map and GPS device. We follow the Dobelbach upwards. After the Neuwiesenhof, the path leads back into the forest and gently ascends to the sports field at Neusatz. Over the high plateau with magnificent views, we finally reach today's stage destination Rotensol.
