Accessible hiking trail around Spitzingsee
The circular route around one of the highest mountain lakes in Bavaria.
The Spitzingsee, one of the highest and largest mountain lakes in Bavaria by area, offers a breathtaking natural landscape. At an elevation of 1084 m above sea level, it offers a lot: from classic gastronomy to huts and alpine pastures to cable cars, some of which also operate in winter. It lies idyllically nestled in a basin between Brecherspitz and Rotwand.
Many hikes start here: for example to Jägerkamp, Rotwand, Bodenschneid, or Brecherspitz. But also a wonderful path around the Spitzingsee is possible. It is flat, without major altitude differences, and thus suitable for everyone.
Also possible in winter, although slippery conditions and risk of falling are to be expected.
This path has been tested as an accessible hiking trail according to the criteria of 'Travel for all'. Further information is available here.

Roadbook
Starting from the parking lot on the east shore of the lake, you first follow a long left curve into the village of Spitzingsee, pass a great playground continuing to the lakeside promenade, past the Arabella Alpenhotel at Spitzingsee and the St. Bernhard Church. Passing the old Wurzhütte, we stay on the path by the lake and enter the forest (Attention: short climbs with slopes up to 18%). We always follow the path and keep turning right at intersections. The path briefly leads away from the lake and across a meadow back to the lake. We continue on a gravel path to the valley station of the Taubenstein cable car and back to the starting point.
