Rail & Trail "Hidden Natural Treasures - Three Lakes, Forest Plateaus, Gorges and Deep View"
Now begins the ascent to an extensive forest hill plateau. A beautiful forest path leads steeply up through the forest flank to the picturesquely nestled between forest hills Saissersee - a protected natural paradise and hidden bathing lake. Here the charming Gasthaus Feidig invites you to a culinary delight with regional specialties. Between the forest hills, continuing uphill, we reach the next extensive forest plateau. Lovely forest paths lead gently up and down over the hidden Small Lake to the idyllic Forstsee – a highlight! It is gladly used by insiders for bathing – sometimes nude ;-). The water level can vary greatly as the lake serves as a reservoir for the power plant down by the Wörthersee. On charming forest paths, initially along the lake, we reach the edge of the plateau, to the Hohes Kreuz – a panorama jewel! The western bay of the Wörthersee lies at our feet, behind it the backdrop of the Karawanks. A perfect place for a break from the break.
We hike down through the quiet forest flank, then the last nature highlight – the wild and romantic Römerschlucht delights. A pleasurable path leads through the forest ravine, past rock blocks, accompanied by the babbling brook and the chirping of birds … Finally, we reach our starting station again through rural settlements.
