Rail & Trail "Dreiländereck - a boundless summit of enjoyment"
We can already see our summit along the border ridge to the west. The path leads briefly down into the saddle to the popular Dreiländereck hut, then across the lush mountain meadows of the summer ski slope up to the summit of the Dreiländereck (1,508 m). Congratulations! This is where Austria, Slovenia and Italy meet. The view sweeps over the Gailtal valley, the mighty Dobratsch massif, the hilly Carinthian lake district and the border mountains - perfect for unwinding. After a long rest, it's worth exploring the summit area: the Friendship Chapel, the Italian bunkers ...
The descent is via green ski slopes to the inviting Dreiländereck hut and then back to the starting point on the ascent route.
Author’s recommendation
For connoisseurs: Arnoldstein train station is well connected by bus to the valley station of the Dreiländereck Bergbahn cable car, so that the walking time can be easily shortened. For information see "Public transport".
