From Emmelshausen to Kastellaun, the path leads as a "panorama route" in large loops through the idyllic Hunsrück landscape. New views open up again and again. Shortly after Emmelshausen, the stately historic fountain house from 1898 (renewed in 1910) stands out in the Leininger district of Sauerbrunnen. The eponymous spring was already tapped here in 1780. After 9 km we reach Pfalzfeld. In Pfalzfeld, the replica of a Celtic flame column from the 5th century BC is worth seeing. The route continues through the Hunsrück villages of Lingerhahn (13 km) past the Dudenrother Schanze to Ebschied (17 km). We cycle into the castle town of Kastellaun (23 km). On a high rock above the town lies the Kastellaun castle ruins with the "House of Regional History". Through the restored old town, we can stroll quietly and browse in small shops. After Kastellaun, the landscape changes after we leave the "Kastellaun depression" in a 1.5 km climb. From here to Simmern, it continually goes gently downhill. Next, we reach the village Bell (25 km). In the nearby Bell Animal Adventure Park, there are animal attractions for young and old. Near Bell station, an iron-age wagon grave from around 500 BC was discovered in a mound field. Also close to the cycling path was the Ilse manganese ore mine. Today, the tunnels are closed, but the spoil heaps are still visible. In Hasselbach, the old school building houses a doll and toy museum displaying toys from the past 150 years. Via Alterkülz (27 km), we continue cycling to Neuerkirch (32 km). The village centre of picturesque Neuerkirch offers, besides renovated Hunsrück-typical half-timbered houses, a cultural-historical museum and an art barn. The museum consists of a residential house and a barn building. In the art barn, you will find a painting and ceramics studio with changing exhibitions. We follow the Külz valley and cross the 50th parallel between Külz and Keidelheim. Shortly thereafter, we arrive at the destination: the town of Simmern (38 km).
