"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving." (Albert Einstein)

This - stimulating and somewhat adventurous - gravel route takes ambitious cycling enthusiasts through lush vineyards and orchards, as well as idyllic villages of Garda Trentino!

Starting directly in the town center of Arco, along the bike path parallel to the Sarca, you head northwards via Dro and Pietramurata up to Sarche di Calavino.

There, a short stretch on the state road SS237 uphill, then right to the perfectly laid out bike path. This leads 4KM through a wide gorge, then again briefly on the road!

Now - technically challenging - down a coarse gravel track and across a suspension bridge to the river's north shore.

Continuing via Villa Banale and Premione up to Ponte Arche, directly on the market square lies - on the right side - the very inviting Caffetteria Zanoni!

After successful refreshment, continue southwest - through lush vineyards and orchards - to Lake Tenno.

Then quite winding via Pranzo, Tenno, and Cologna to Riva del Garda, directly on the northern shore of Lake Garda!

Finally, return to Arco via the cycle-friendly lake promenade and the quiet Sarca bike path.

All in all, the tour around the mighty Casale mountain range is a thoroughly worthwhile and technically demanding half-day tour with many nature-close sections. Those interested in history and cuisine should definitely plan the whole day for it!

    Author’s recommendation

Especially rewarding in spring and autumn! After half the distance, a stop at the original Pasticceria Caffetteria Zanoni in Ponte Arche is recommended. It is located directly on Piazza Mercato and delights its guests with excellent homemade sweets and outstanding espresso!
