A twenty-minute walk through the olive groves and you will reach the top where the castle and its towers looks over the Alto Garda plain
All that is left of the ancient fortress are the towers, part of the surrounding walls and some buildings in ruins which suffered numerous assaults over the centuries. The castle was recently restored, and now you can visit the Prigione del Sasso and the Torre Grande, whose walls are decorated with a splendid set of secular 14th-century frescoes depicting ladies playing chess. Icon and symbol of the city, Castello di Arco is in countless manuscripts and paintings, including the famous Albrecht Dürer watercolour preserved in the Louvre in Paris. You can visit the castle year round. In the summer, it is also the setting for music and theatre performances.
