The so-called lower area tracks of the Vuokatti Sports Institute mainly run through dry forest terrain in pine woods. The small hills are fairly steep but still short enough for enjoyable skiing. The track is interesting and varied, challenging skiers of different levels with its versatility. The track, maintained daily by a grooming machine, is suitable for both classic and freestyle skiing.

You can extend this 5 km loop to a 6 km or 9 km loop if you wish, follow the signs in the terrain. From the lower area tracks, there are connecting trails to accommodation businesses in the Vuokatti area and an ice track to Sotkamo.

    Author’s recommendation

In the ski terrain of the Sports Institute's lower area, you can learn skiing techniques and sled down hills either on skis or using other sledding equipment.
