Upper Illertal

You start in the town center and cycle through the pedestrian zone (please cycle at walking pace), continue via Schloßstraße and Oberstdorfer Straße onto the Illerradweg (Bavarian network for cyclists) in the direction of Fischen. In Fischen, switch to the right-hand side of the Illerweg and continue southwards, past the source of the Iller, until you reach the B19 just before Oberstdorf. There you cross under the main road, keep right briefly and then immediately turn left again towards Tiefenbach.

In Tiefenbach you have the opportunity to visit the impressive Breitachklamm gorge, which you reach after about 2 kilometers in a southerly direction. From there, continue along the road to Obermaiselstein, where you will pass the so-called Hirschsprung, a narrow rock breakthrough.

At the end of Obermaiselstein, turn left towards Balderschwang, but avoid the Riedberg Pass by turning right to Sonderdorf shortly after leaving the village. From there, continue to Bolsterlang.

In Bolsterlang, follow the signs to Untermühlegg and pass the Kurhaus and Kurpark - a good opportunity for a short break. Before Untermühlegg, turn left towards Dietrichs and Muderbolz. In Muderbolz, take the narrow but asphalted road uphill to Schweineberg.

From there, you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the Allgäu Alps before heading back downhill to Sigishofen. Once there, keep right towards Sonthofen, pass under the B19 and cross the Iller. Then continue straight on back to the town center.
