Time loop Eifel blossoms – The Natural

In spring, yellow daffodils shine during this route, but the flora also shows an enchanting diversity in summer and autumn. Grasses reveal their hidden grace, trees surprise with their variety. Blossoms that heal are found at the Heilsteinhaus; plants that dye tell of ancient crafts in Monschau. Those who love the special will be fascinated by the history of the rare freshwater pearl mussels in the Perlenbach.

The route first takes you through the beautiful Rur valley from Kalterherberg to Monschau. The idyllic former cloth maker’s town invites you to linger. Here, the townscape has scarcely changed for almost 300 years: half-timbered idyll and rubble stone construction, unique in this form today.

We then follow the course of the Rur to Einruhr and through the Eifel National Park, where beech-dominated forests line the path. Also typical of the landscape are the numerous impressive meter-high hedgerows within the settlements, which were planted as windbreaks for individual farms, as well as a distinct hedgerow system that weaves through fields and meadows. The Eifeldom announces the approaching end of the route.
