You start in the town center and cycle through the pedestrian zone (please cycle at walking pace) via Schloßstraße into Oberstdorfer Straße. Once you reach the Illerdamm, turn left at the campsite onto the Illerdamm and cycle upstream towards Fischen. Follow the Iller cycle path (Bavarian network for cyclists) to the source of the Iller and continue along the Trettach to Oberstdorf.

Return via a field path to Rubi. There you cross the district road and take the narrow, relatively steep field path on the western side. A detour to the castle church of St. Michael is definitely worthwhile. Continue via Widum to Schöllang and Hinang as far as Altstädten. In Altstädten, turn right uphill to Beilenberg and then cycle down the valley path via Hofen and Margarethen back to Sonthofen.
