The museum tour begins and ends at the Tourist Information at Rathausplatz. From there, you first head along Donaustraße towards the Konrad Adenauer Bridge. However, before crossing the Danube on the bridge, turn left towards Tränktorstraße. There you will find the first museum waiting for your visit, the Museum for Concrete Art, the only museum in Germany exclusively dedicated to the presentation of concrete art.
From the Museum for Concrete Art, proceed via Mauthstraße and Reiterkasernstraße through the baroque clock tower into the courtyard of the New Castle. The New Castle houses the Bavarian Army Museum with an impressive exhibition on military history in Bavaria. From the New Castle, you reach the next museum via Paradeplatz and the Esplanade: the Lechner Museum. The Lechner Museum is devoted to the artistic work of sculptor Alf Lechner. In front of and inside the museum, you can admire heavy steel sculptures, among other things.
Back within the medieval city walls, you reach the Audi Forum Ingolstadt via Unterer Graben, Harderstraße, Nördliche Ringstraße, and Ettinger Straße, including the award-winning circular building of the Audi museum mobile. At the Audi museum mobile, everything literally revolves around mobility: moving walls and mobile exhibits reflect the history of the automobile, mobility, and the corporate history of Audi AG.
Opposite the Audi Forum Ingolstadt, turn into Waldeysenstraße and continue via Gaimersheimer Straße, Nördliche Ringstraße, and Von-der-Tann-Straße to the City Museum. The City Museum, housed in the historic Kavalier Hepp, tells the story of settlement in the Danube region and the eventful history of Ingolstadt through its rich and diverse exhibition. The Toy Museum and a project room for the European Danube Museum are also housed in the City Museum.
Following Auf der Schanz street, continue past the city's landmark, the Kreuztor, into Jahnstraße, then after a few meters turn left into Anatomiestraße to the baroque Old Anatomy building housing the German Museum of Medical History. The exhibits of this unique museum in Germany testify to medical history from antiquity to the present. Not only the anatomical garden but also the café and museum shop invite visitors to rest and linger.
Next, follow the signage for the Danube Cycle Path towards Neuburg. Below the Glacis Bridge, cross the Danube and follow the Danube embankment toward Haunwöhr. At the height of Schrobenhausener Straße, leave the embankment and follow Haunwöhrer Straße to Hundszell. There, turn into Lechermannstraße and after about 200 meters into Probststraße. A little further leads to the Farmer's Equipment Museum. In an old farmhouse, you can immerse yourself in the agricultural life of past days.
From the Farmer's Equipment Museum, head back toward the old town: first follow Kirchstraße, then turn left into Hans-Denck-Straße. Continuing on Schrobenhausener Straße, turn right into Berliner Straße and follow it almost to Ingolstadt main station. Via Münchener Straße, after about 2 kilometers, reach the bridgehead. There, turn right into Klenzepark and after about 50 meters reach the entrance to the Bavarian Army Museum - Section World War I. If you continue a little further toward Turm Triva, the Bavarian Police Museum awaits your visit. Over the Donausteg and Schloßlände, you finally return to Rathausplatz and the starting point of the tour.
