    Author’s recommendation

Beautiful water nymphs live in the Mummelsee. They help people with house and farm chores. However, they must always be back in the lake in time in the evening. Once, a water nymph fell in love with a farmer boy and lost track of time during a dance. She had to pay for this with her life.

    Seebach – Ruhestein 18.5 km

    • The start of the route is at the Mummelseehalle in Seebach.
    • Behind the hall, go left downhill to the street, then turn right over the river, then left into the street "Am Schroffen".
    • At the fork before going downhill, turn right up the valley hiking trail, follow the creek for about 1 km. At the bridge, turn right uphill to the district road and then turn left uphill.
    • After about 500 m (directly after the bridge), go straight uphill on "Legelsaustraße".
    • Right around the curve and after about 900 m, half left now follow the forest road in switchbacks uphill to B500.
    • Once there, continue left on it, then turn right onto the next forest road uphill and on the wide forest road turn right for about 2 km to the Mummelsee. The battery should actually have enough power for the rewarding detour to the Hornisgrinde!
    • The route continues on the forest road running parallel to B500 to Seibelseckle.
    • At Seibelseckle, cross the parking lot and pass the lift station, go under the lift, then follow the main trail towards Darmstädter Hütte and Ruhestein.
    • Go downhill on the Torfweg to Ruhestein.

Ruhestein – Allerheiligen (St. Ursula) 6.5 km (25 km)

    • The last meters to the junction at Ruhestein are on B500.
    • Straight on, pass the junction to Baiersbronn, then right onto the district road towards Ottenhöfen.
    • Follow this for about 5 km. At the hiking parking lot, take a half right, then steep downhill on the gravel forest road ("Schwabenweg") towards St. Ursula.
    • On the district road, turn right towards the saddle.
    • There you shouldn’t miss the downhill detour to the Allerheiligen monastery ruins.

Allerheiligen (St. Ursula) – Seebach 8.5 km (33.5 km)

    • At the St. Ursula pass, turn right and go downhill along the district road (K5371) for 2 km.
    • In the valley, turn right uphill, pass Dickteich and Blöchereck, follow the path "Blöchereck" through the forest to Ottenhöfen.
    • On the street "Schlossberg" go downhill to the village.
    • At the main road, turn right into the town center and after the bridge turn right, follow "Ruhesteinstraße" uphill through the village.
    • Turn left onto "Zieselberg" street, then the next right, passing the hamlet Kohlstatt, and now follow the hiking trail along the Acher river to Seebach.
    • Right over the bridge and uphill on the street "Am Schroffen".
    • Then back on the familiar path to the starting point of the route.
