Monastery Route

Friesenheim – Kehl 33.5 km

• The route starts at the town hall in Friesenheim.
• Follow the "Friesenheimer Hauptstraße" westward to Friesenheim station.
• Go through the underpass, then follow the street "Am Bahnhof" to L118. There turn right and continue on "Schutterner Hauptstraße" through the town.
• At the town exit, after the cemetery, turn right and follow the edge of the town. Turn right on the main road, then take the next left into the street "In der Kruttenau".
• Cross the bridge to the left, straight past Bockswinkelhof, then turn left onto the district road and then right, crossing the motorway.
• Immediately after the bridge over the stream, turn right to Schutterzell.
• Turn left onto "Marödelstraße" into the village.
• At the "Yield" sign go straight and turn left at the town hall into "Mühlweg". Follow this out of the town.
• After about 1 km, at the four-way junction, turn left and follow the "Hofweg" to Ichenheim. Turn left into "Schopfheimer Straße".
• At the end, turn right onto the "Hauptstraße", past the church, then left into "Rheinstraße". Follow this road about 4 km out of town and to the Rhine.
• Turn right at the Rhine and now follow the Rhine cycle route for about 17 km along the river to Kehl.
• Turn right at the Rhine promenade into "Großherzog-Friedrich-Straße" to the center.

Kehl – Offenburg 19 km (52.5 km)

• Through the city center on "Marktstraße". At the end turn right onto "Kinzigallee".
• After the Ehrenfriedhof (war cemetery), turn left over the bridge and then right into "Kandelstraße".
• After about 300 m, turn left onto the bike path and follow it to the roundabout. Turn left there, cross via the pedestrian crossing and follow "Vogesenstraße".
• After about 300 m, cross the road and continue south of the street to the river dike. Turn right and follow the dike. About 1 km further, the Schutter river dike is reached.
• Turn left there to the next bridge. After crossing the Schutter, turn right and then the next left. Follow parallel to the Kinzig river to the Willstätt sports ground.
• Follow the Kinzig dam first on the south side, then on the north side to Offenburg.

Offenburg – Friesenheim 20.0 km (72.5 km)

• In Offenburg, turn right onto "Hauptstraße" and follow the Rhine Valley route through and past Schutterwald.
• At the cycling trail junction at the Willstätt sports ground, go straight over "Hindenburgstraße" and into the town center on "Hauptstraße".
• Turn right onto "Kirchstraße" to leave the town.
• At the town exit, turn left into "Hofweierer Straße" and follow it out of town and over the motorway.
• At the T-junction, turn right and follow along the tracks to Niederschopfheim. Follow the bike path over the tracks and through the village.
• At the junction near the supermarket, follow the B3 towards Oberschopfheim and then after about 200 m turn right onto the farm track.
• At the four-way junction near the chapel, turn left to Oberschopfheim.
• At the B3 turn right again and after about 300 m turn left and follow "Hebelstraße" out of town back to Friesenheim to the starting point of the route.
