The Frundsbergweg connects the medieval town of Mindelheim with the Kneipp spa town of Bad Wörishofen. The Frundsbergweg and especially the Frundsberg festival (every 3 years) recall in Mindelheim the rule of the knightly family of Frundsberg. While the old town of Mindelheim features numerous historic buildings bearing witness to its 1,000-year city history, everything in Bad Wörishofen revolves around Kneipp’s healing methods – from the Kneipp facilities, through the spa park, to the therapeutic offerings.

We stand at Marienplatz, the "parlor" of Mindelheim. The eastern half of the square was dominated until 1783 by the Gothic town hall, the Teck’sches Kaufhaus, and today serves as the town hall. The facade in Neo-Renaissance style was designed in 1897 by the Munich architect Eugen Drollinger, who also worked for King Ludwig II, the "Fairy Tale King." At the southwestern bay window, a statue of Georg I of Frundsberg commemorates the famous son of Mindelheim. Every 3 years, the historic Frundsberg festival takes place, most recently in 2015. The beautifully restored townhouses along Maximilianstraße and the numerous churches and chapels invite exploration.

Our bike route heads westward, and we pass through the Obere Tor, a five-story gate tower with a town clock and the "Poor Sinner Bell." It was rung during executions. At the intersection, we turn right, at the roundabout take the 3rd exit – towards the train station. Arriving at the station, we cycle briskly under the railway tracks to Industriestraße and then turn right towards the "Grob-Werke." At the end of Industriestraße, we reach Allgäuer Straße, which we must cross. (Caution: vehicles travel quite fast here, so be careful!)

We proceed straight for 1.2 kilometers on the street "Im Eichet," first turning left and then right at the next street. After leaving the A96 behind, we turn left and follow the street layout until after just under a kilometer we arrive in Mindelau on Staig street. The bike route signage shows us the way. After 170m we turn sharply right into Dorfstraße, which we follow for 210 m. Now we arrive at a street that turns left – Augustinerweg. The ascent is about 2 km long. Once at the top, we can rest on our bikes until we reach Dorschhausen. After the tennis club, we turn left onto Mindelauer Straße, following it to the end of Dorschhausen. After the bus stop, the lively group of cyclists turns left onto Bayernweg, which lies directly on the edge of the village. There is signage. 400 m further, we reach Wäldleweg, which we follow right through the forest towards Bad Wörishofen. This forest area is called "Spitzwald." It contains the "Sonnenbichl" outdoor pool and many hiking trails.

The sunlight is with us again, and an avenue leads us to Dorschhausener Weg in Bad Wörishofen. At the end of this street, we must cycle a short distance on Mindelheimer Straße, but after 100 m we turn left into Viktoria Straße with its impressive new buildings. It goes downhill to "Obstinsel," where we can replenish our fruit supplies.

We follow Kathreinerstraße. On the right, we see a fountain. It marks the gateway to the spa promenade. Behind the fountain, we can cool our heated limbs at the Kneipp basin in the spa promenade, which is fed by the Wörthbach. Our destination is within reach. Kathreinerstraße ends at the main street. If we continue cycling right, we reach the spa house of Bad Wörishofen. Now we can enjoy Bad Wörishofen with all our senses and let the day come to a close. The return route to Mindelheim goes via parts of the Kneipp and Mindeltal cycle paths.
