From confluence to source

From the town whose castle in Austria gave its name to the Czech designation for our southern neighbors, we head against the flow of the Moravská Dyje river up to its source in the Vysočina region. In Raabs, besides the castle, we can visit the Regional History Museum and the Grenzland Museum. We leave the town via the cycling route Graselweg Thayaland Runde 1. This is followed by a steep climb to the village of Modsiedl. In the village of Großau we leave the cycling route and continue for another 2.5 km on road L8078 to the village of Schaditz, where we join EuroVelo 13. Across the state border we ride to the village of Dešná, where we turn right onto cycle path 26. At the crossroads near Bačkovice, we have the option to continue straight along road III/40810 for about 3 km to the village of Police. In the village, we can visit the chateau, which besides its castle exhibition houses the RAF Museum, and behind the village there is a Jewish cemetery. From Bačkovice, we cross Jemn ící and continue along cycle path 26 through a long climb into the forest, where the green tourist trail joins us. We turn left into the village of Lomy. We follow the green marking to Radkovice u Budče. From Radkovice, we continue by turning left onto cycle path 5124. We will follow this cycle path for only 2.5 kilometers to the village of Knínice. From here, we turn right onto cycle path 5092, which leads us through Krasonice, Zdeňkov, Stará Říše and further to Panenská Rozsíčka. In Panenská Rozsíčka, we turn right onto cycle path 5091, climb 2 km above the village, turn right again onto the green tourist trail, and after a few meters arrive at the source of the Moravská Dyje, where our journey ends.
