Drau Cycle Path detour: Fish as in the emperor's times
Author’s recommendation
A shortcut and beautiful option is to take the bike ferry Peter Pan from Millstatt to the southern shore and then look for the bench by the lake to enjoy an undisturbed view of Millstätter See. However, you would then miss the fish snack bar in the garden in Dellach. Fish from their own production in a sensational location!

Roadbook
From Spittal an der Drau, the bike route leads through the Lieser Gorge towards Millstätter See, where you soon reach Seeboden on the west bank. A few meters above the village, Sommeregg Castle towers with a remarkable but somewhat creepy torture museum. It then goes along the northern shore of the lake towards Millstatt. Millstatt has history and flair, as shown by some architectural jewels in the town. In the center is also the first Carinthian bathhouse, which is based on a historic bathing facility once located at the Carinthian lakes. Today it is of course a wellness facility with an outdoor pool, where you feel like you can almost swim right into the lakes. It often continues directly along the water towards the east and southern shore. Above the Laggerhof Bay, the route now goes uphill over the ridge and then down again on the backside into the Drau valley, and via Rothenthurn back to the starting point.
