The Harz National Park is one of the largest German forest national parks and the first cross-border national park in Germany. 97 percent of the national park area is covered with forest. With nearly 25,000 hectares of area, it covers about 10 percent of the total area of the Harz. More than 10,000 animal and plant species find a protected refuge here.
