Welcome to the DAV

We are a mountain sports and nature conservation organisation. Whether hiking, mountaineering, climbing, ski touring or mountain biking - we promote mountain sports with responsibility and are committed to preserving the unique natural environment. Founded back in 1869, the DAV now has 1.5 million members.

These are organised in more than 350 sections, which operate 325 huts and 220 climbing facilities and maintain around 30,000 kilometres of trails.

Our members are united by a passion for the mountains. We live and defend diversity, acceptance and openness. All people who share this with us are welcome in the DAV.

Experienced DAV mountaineers produce high-quality and precise tour descriptions on a voluntary basis. Over 19,000 of these have now been created, all recognisable by the alpenvereinaktiv.com logo.
