Ski tours in Mittenwald

The Dammkar is the freeride classic of the German Alpine region. Even though most skiers use the Karwendelbahn for the ascent, it is still worth tackling the impressive climb on tour skis.

Due to its steepness and unique view, one of the best ski routes in the Wetterstein Mountains.Ideal avalanche conditions and good climbing and skiing technique are an absolute must!

Germany's "longest piste ski tour" Germany's best-known "freeride descent" is located in a wild rocky cirque of the Karwendel high above Mittenwald. While in midwinter, during good snow conditions, the guests of the Karwendelbahn ski this rock-fringed steep cirque to the mogul slope, in spring the ski tourers are on their own here again. Then the skis usually have to be carried on the lower 350 meters of altitude, which greatly reduces the attractiveness for true "freeriders" so much that they turn to other destinations. Although it is still not lonely in the Dammkar, as a tourer you no longer feel like a ghost driver on a one-way street. At the latest for the overhaul of the cable car (usually in May, sometimes already in April) nothing works without your own ascent effort. After the ascent through the wild rocky cirque, the ambiance at the end of the cirque appears somewhat surreal. First, you go through a 400 m long tunnel (unlit during the cable car revision - then be sure to take a headlamp) and reach the mountain station of the Karwendelbahn. Next to it is the Karwendel Nature Information Center in the form of an oversized telescope. What won't one do for one's tourists ... In any case, two peaks are now available. The Northern Linderspitze is climbed most frequently. The Western Karwendelspitze can also be ski toured up to just below the summit in good conditions. View, depth view, and the descent through the shady Dammkar are guaranteed from both summits.

Mammut erweckt Dammkarwurm zum LebenÜber 120 Mammut-Fans aus ganz Deutschland hauchten dem legendären «Dammkarwurm» im Karwendel Leben ein. Das aus den frühen 30er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts bekannte Phänomen war einst ein Symbol für die Leidenschaft der Menschen für das Skibergsteigen - und wurde im Rahmen des 150 Peaks Project ein Symbol für diese Leidenschaft der Mammut Kunden.

Ski tour via forest path, forest and summit slope

Von Krün über die Fischbachalm an Soiernhaus und -seen vorbei ins Soiernkar.  Mit Abstecher von der Scharte nach Süden kommt man auf 4 schöne Hänge :)))  Optional Lahnspitz und/oder Soiernspitze mgl. Im Track ist nur die Abfahrt ab Soiernspitze. Die Aufstiegsroute ist ähnlich (ggf. ab Materialseilbahn auf Sommerweg im Wald bleiben). 35 Grad werden mehrmals kurz überschritten - nur bei stabiler Lawinenlage empfehlenswert. Laut GPS mit südseitiger Abfahrt gut 1800hm, ohne etwa 400hm weniger.
