A fák közé, egymástól viszonylag távol elhelyezett pihenők és tűzrakók miatt akár több csoport is kényelmesen használhatja a pihenőhelyet. Nagyobb csoportok jó pár sátrat is leverhetnek a sima talajú, árnyas területen.
Forrás nincs a közelben. A pihenőhely mögötti erdészeti úton jobbra fordulva is visszajuthatunk az Országos Kéktúrára, a kettő elágazásában is áll egy pad és egy térképes tábla.
A neves fák
A névadó Lajos-bükkök nem pont itt, de a közelben álltak. A Farkas-erdőt újra zárt rengeteggé alakító, bajor származású erdész, Scherg Lőrinc nem messze innen bükkös alakított ki III. Lajos bajor király emlékére. Az egykori állomány utolsó két hírmondóját 2005-ben egy szélvihar törte derékba. Előttük 1911 óta kőpad áll, emlékeztetve a bajor királyi hercegi család látogatására.
Az erdőrészlet neve Avas – ez óvottat, védettet, azaz olyan erdőt jelölt egykor, ami makkoltatásra szolgált, nem faanyagtermelésre. De jelenthetett öreg, azaz „ó” erdőt is.

- Káldról a K jelzésen juthatunk el a pihenőhelyre. Az utolsó néhány méteren ösvényt kell követni, aminek kezdetére a Kéktúra jobb oldalán álló pad és tábla hívja fel a figyelmet (3,5 km, 39 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Parkolni Káld szélén, a József Attila utca végén található sportpályánál érdemes.
