Cool water hike directly along the river, through shady forest passages and past three lakes!
The tour starts at Augsburg-Hochzoll railroad station and follows the Lech - on well-maintained paths, it first goes to the Hochablass, a historic barrage structure that is part of Augsburg's UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Further south is the Kuhsee, a former oxbow lake with sunbathing areas and playgrounds. The route then continues through the Siebentischwald forest to the Auensee - a quiet, near-natural lake, followed by the Weitmannsee, another body of water along the way that is ideal for a short break.
The paths remain flat and family-friendly - only the length makes the hike a little more strenuous.
Author’s recommendation
You can take a spontaneous break at any of the lakes - whether to play, picnic or relax and watch the water.
