A Széles-hegy csúcsa 1 méterrel marad el az 500-as magasságtól, a kilátást azonban ez nem befolyásolja: amerre a fák engedik, szép panoráma nyílik a Börzsöny nyugati területére. A hegy tetején rétet találunk, ami piknikezésre is kiváló helyszín.
A Börzsöny nyugati részének csaknem 500 méter magas hegye elsősorban arról nevezetes, hogy itt található a Börzsönyi Kéktúra egyik igazolópontja. A sziklagyeppel borított, lapos hegytetőn magányos fa alatt áll a túramozgalom táblája, de ha már itt vagyunk, érdemes kicsit körülnézni.
A panorámába elég sok fa lóg bele, de találunk hézagokat (elsősorban keleti irányban), amelyeken át izgalmas irányból nézhetünk rá a Magas-Börzsönyre (főleg a lombmentes időszakban), majd a déli horizont felé a hegység egyre csökkenő magasságú bérceit követhetjük a Duna vonaláig. Ugyanakkor a kilátásra számos jobb hegyet is tudunk ajánlani a közvetlen közelből: a Koppányokat, a Nagy-Gallát vagy a Gömbölyű-kőt.
A Széles-hegy teteje egy nagy rét, amit bokros-ligetes tölgyes kerít körbe. Ideális, bár puritán helyszín egy pihenőre – mivel nincsen semmilyen infrastruktúra, csak fűben heverészős mélázásra alkalmas.

- A legközelebbi buszmegálló a Márianosztra, autóbusz-forduló.
- A Letkés, községháza buszmegállóból is elindulhatunk.
- A Nagybörzsöny, Petőfi utca 75. buszmegálló szintén lehet túránk kiinduló- vagy végpontja.

- Márianosztráról a Z jelzésű turistaúton induljunk el, majd az elágazásban fordjunk jobbra a K jelzésű útra (3,9 km, 289 m szintemelkedés).
- Letkésről Z jelzésű turistaúton induljunk el, majd az elágazásban fordjunk balra a K jelzésű útra (6,9 km, 432 m szintemelkedés).
- Nagybörzsöny felől a K jelzésű úton induljunk déli irányba, és kövessük végig a jelzést a Széles-hegyig (6,7 km, 372 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Márianosztrán több ingyenes parkolóhelyet is találunk, érdemes a vasútállomás közelében letenni az autót.
- Nagybörzsönyben a központban találunk ingyenes parkolóhelyeket.
- Letkésen a faluközpontban van ingyenes parkoló.
