A Vértes tagoltabb, központi részén fakadó, alapvetően időszakos, de gyakran bővizűen csörgedező forrás, ahol a túrázók remek táborhelyet is találnak.
Idilli környezet
Az erdészeti út mellett fekvő rendezett pihenőnél minden adott a komfortos piknikezéshez, táborozáshoz: az árnyat adó fák alatt kiépített forrás szolgáltat hűs, finom vizet. Több pad és asztal, tűzrakó, illetve egy nagyobb és egy kisebb esőbeálló biztosít kényelmet vagy menedéket akár nagyobb társaság számára is. A forrás neve a Vértesben gyakran vadászó Mátyás király emlékét őrzi. A domboldalban fekvő pihenőhelyen egy 1970-es évek elején fából épült, szebb napokat látott kulcsosházat, egy hegyoldalba vájt fatároló helyiséget, továbbá vécét is találunk. Az épület mellett tekintélyes méretű faszobor található.
A pihenésre csábító hely hangulatát tovább fokozza a csendes táj tagolt terepviszonyú környezete. Hasonló adottságokkal bíró, ugyancsak remek táborhelyre találunk az innen alig egy kilométerre fekvő Szarvas-kútnál, ami szintén a kéktúra mentén nyújt kényelmet.

- Szárligettől az Országos Kéktúra K jelzésein juthatunk el a kúthoz (12,3 km, 340 m szintemelekedés).
- Vértessomlóról a P , majd a K jelzéseket követve kereshetjük fel a forrást (5,7 km, 218 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Autóval csak erdészeti engedéllyel megközelíthető a forrás. A helyszínhez legközelebb leparkolni a 2,3 km-re fekvő Várgesztesen lehet.
