Fenyőfő felől mészkőtörmelékes, néhol sziklakibúvásos, helyenként meredek, de rövid csapás vezet a Pápalátó-kő lapos hátára. A kis mészkőbérc hátán tűzrakót formáltak néhány közelben gyűjtött kőből. A göcsörtös, vén fákkal keretezett peremről távlati a panoráma: a Kisalföld síkjának nagy része előttünk terül el. A Pápalátó név természetesen nem az egyházi vezetőre, hanem a közeli kisvárosra utal, ami északnyugat felé terpeszkedik, és a kilátás részét képezi. A Sokoró részeként feltűnik Pannonhalma dombon ülő apátsági épülete is, egészen tiszta időben a Kőszegi-, illetve a Soproni-hegység sejlik fel a síkság túlsó peremén.
Alattunk Fenyőfő terül el, mellette pedig az ősfenyves hatalmas, védett területének sötétzöld árnyalata nyújtózik.
A kis sziklaterasz lényegében a Mennydörgő-hegy hátát alkotó kőzet kivésett letörése: a szomszédos völgyet rég eltűnt vízfolyás mélyíthette, a kemény mészkő pedig fokozatosan kipreparálódott kevésbé ellenálló környezetéből.

- Bakonyszentlászló és Veszprémvarsány felől közlekedő buszokkal a Fenyőfő, Újtelep megállóig utazzunk.

- A buszmegállóból a faluból kifelé induljunk el a Z jelzésen. Egy bal, majd jobbkanyar után a Z▲ vezet fel a kőhöz (2 km).
Parking
- A templomnál kiépített parkolóban hagyhatjuk az autót. A buszmegállónál az utca mentén parkolhatunk.
