    Stage 1: Hohenwarte to Wilhelmsdorf

The first stage of your hike at the Thuringian Sea takes you into the history of the creation of the Hohenwarte Reservoir, which today is the fourth largest reservoir in Germany and one of the most beautiful recreational areas in the country. In addition to the historical background of the dam and the sunken villages, the trail offers lasting impressions of the diversity of the forest habitat and, after the first steep climbs towards Wilhelmsdorf, opens up amazing views over the wide water landscape.
