Zwischen Nadelwäldern liegt das Waldhotel oberhalb der Saale am Hohenwarte Stausee.

Ursprünglich unter dem Namen „Günthers Heil" wurde das Hotel von 1936 bis 1939 erbaut. Es diente im Zweiten Weltkreig teilweise als Wehrmachtsstützpunkt und wurde nach Kriegsende von der damaligen DDR als Erholungsheim des Freien Deutschen Gewerkschaftsbundes genutzt. Seit 1993 wieder in Familienbesitz, wird die Hotelanlage seitdem kontinuierlich modernisiert.

Mit dem Zug nach Saalfeld (Saale). Von hier mit der Buslinie 545 bis zur Haltestelle Bucha bei Saalfeld oder Hohenwarte Sperrmauer.

Das Hotel bietet auch nach vorheriger Absprache einen Transfer von den Städten Saalfeld und Pößneck an.

Von Norden über die A9 auf die B281 (Ausfahrt Richtung Saalfeld) und anschließend der L2384 bis zum Hotel

oder von der A71 bei Ausfahrt 14-Arnstadt-Süd auf die L1048 über die B85 und schließlich auf die L2384.

Aus Süden von der A9 bei Ausfahrt 29-Bad Lobenstein auf B90 in Richtung Bad Lobenstein fahren. Dann über die L2377, L1100 und L2384 bis zum Ziel.
