A balatonalmádi Vörös Homokkő tanösvény egyik állomása az Óvári messzelátóPhoto: Veszelovszki Zsolt, funiQ.hu
A Balaton legszebb kilátói közé tartozik a századfordulón emelt, vöröshomokkő talapzaton álló, különös formájú épület, ahonnan gyönyörű a panoráma, különösen a Fűzfői-öböl felé.
A századfordulón épült kilátó a nevét Dr. Óvári Ferenc ügyvédről, országgyűlési képviselőről kapta, aki nagyon sokat tett Balatonalmádiért, többek között a vasúthálózat kiépítéséért. A vöröskő talpazaton álló, zöldre festett gerendavázas, cseréptetős építményből káprázatos a panoráma. A Fűzfői-öböl talán innen a legszebb, de különlegesség, hogy rálátunk Balatonalmádi Vörösberény városrészére is a jellegzetes templomtornyaival.
A II. világháború után újjá kellett építeni a teljes épületet, ami egy ideig a Wesselényi-kilátó nevet viselte. 1991-ben, 2004-ben és 2016-ban is történtek felújítások a régi fotók alapján, de némileg egyszerűbb szerkezettel.
A kilátó könnyen megközelíthető: egyrészt autóval egészen az aljáig elmehetünk, de ha gyalogtúrát tervezünk, Balatonalmádi központjától, a Városház térről indul a Vörös Homokkő tanösvény K▲ jelzése, amely pont ide vezet.
