JULIANA TRAIL: stage 5 Bled - Goreljek on Pokljuka
The stage starts at Lake Bled and runs through Gorje, Pokljuka Gorge, with some steep climbs over the alpine pastures Kranjska dolina and Planina Javornik to the heart of the Pokljuka Plateau and ends in Goreljek at Hotel Pokljuka.
The stage begins at the glacial Lake Bled. Pletna is a traditional boat that takes visitors across the lake to the island. You can walk along the shore and in summer swim at some spots. The lake is also known for rowing regattas; the World Rowing Championships have been held here four times. The path leads under the slopes of Pokljuka through the picturesque and sunny village of Gorje, then through Pokljuka Gorge, protected as a natural monument within Triglav National Park. There are two paths through the gorge; one runs over galleries under the natural bridge, the other through the so-called Pokljuka Hole – a cave with three windows – to the uninhabited hamlet Stara Pokljuka. The third section of the path takes you onto the forested Pokljuka plateau at the edge of Triglav National Park. The path passes gereutes (cleared forest areas) and alpine meadows breaking up the dense forest landscape. Some alpine pastures still produce cheese and cottage cheese. The stage ends in the hamlet Goreljek at Hotel Pokljuka, which is 4 kilometers from the biathlon center at Rudno polje on Pokljuka. World Cup races take place there.

Roadbook
The path initially leads on local roads and follows a marked high route from Krnica to Pokljuka. On the plateau, the path partly follows forest roads.
The stage begins at Lake Bled in front of the festival hall. There you turn onto the paved lakeside promenade towards Bled Castle, then left onto the asphalt road that runs directly by the lake, under the castle to Mala Zaka, where the regatta center is located. From the roundabout, go straight up the stairs and then steeply uphill to Bled railway station. Here you turn right, walk on the sidewalk, and after 500 meters turn left towards Spodnje Gorje. Then turn left over the bridge above the railway line and follow the track to the right to the industrial zone, where you turn left and go uphill to Spodnje Gorje. There you cross the main road Bled–Pokljuka and walk through the settlement to the road Bled–Poljane–Jesenice. Turn immediately left and follow the beautifully laid out promenade below Mount Višelnica to the village centre of Zgornje Gorje, where you turn right at the church onto the sidewalk along the main road to Pokljuka. After about one kilometer, turn right from the main road onto the path to the village Krnica and continue from there towards Pokljuka Gorge. A gravel road takes you to the parking lot in front of the gorge. Turn left onto the path through the gorge. At the fork under Pokljuka Gorge, follow the right path through the cave with three natural windows to the abandoned farmhouse in the hamlet Stara Pokljuka. The marked high route continues past Repečnik Gereut, over the alpine pasture Kranjska dolina to the gravel road, then right and after 100 meters straight ahead, or in a gentle left curve, to the parking lots at the alpine pasture Planina Javornik. Turn right onto the alpine pasture, where you have beautiful views of the mountains Mrežce, Debela peč, Viševnik, Draški vrh, and Triglav. Continue straight across the alpine pasture heading south to the main road Bled–Rudno polje. Turn left, then after 200 meters right to Hotel Pokljuka in Goreljek.
