Nem csak nevében páratlan a béri andezitcsúszda: az eldugott nógrádi zsákfalu, Bér egykori kőfejtőjében olyan kőzetforma van a felszínen, amihez hasonló nem sok ismert a világon. Az oszlopos elválású, hajlott andezit feltárása azok számára is izgalmas látványosság, akik csekély érdeklődést mutatnak a földtudományok iránt.
Bér mellett, a lankák közti kőfejtőben található a világszerte is ritka, oszlopos elválású, csúszdaszerűen hajlott andezitfeltárás. Annak ellenére, hogy mesterséges, nagyon is természetesnek hat, hiszen a mohával fedett kőlapok sűrű erdő szorításából bontakoznak ki. A béri andezitömlés az elmúlt évtizedek szinte minden magyarországi földrajztankönyvében szerepelt illusztrációként, bár nem tipikus megjelenési formája e vulkáni kiömlési kőzettípusnak: ez a formavilág általában a bazaltra jellemző.
És hogy miért egy egykori kőfejtő mélyén lelhető fel ez a páratlan látványosság, ha kiömlési kőzetről van szó? Mert a kb. 15 millió éve működött vulkán lávaanyaga törmelékes kőzetek repedéseibe nyomult, és sosem érte el a felszínt. A mélyben kihűlve andezitté szilárdult, és végül a bányászat következtében került a felszínre (igaz azonban, hogy a külső erők is pusztították a fedő üledékeket). A hajdani Holczer-bánya kemény andezitje jó építőanyag volt, és például sírkövek megformálására használták.
A kihűlése közben zsugorodó andezitláva egyre szilárdabb testét repedések járták át, ezek mentén váltak el az oszlopok. A hasadékok, melyekben a folyamat végbement, hajlottak voltak, az andezit pedig ezekre merőlegesen szilárdult, ez alkotta meg a jellegzetes, csúszdaszerű formát.
A közelben kőtár található, ahol a környező táj kőzeteiről és az „andezitcsúszda" kialakulásáról többet is megtudhatnak a Bér felől érkező túrázók.

- A buszmegállóból déli irányba tegyünk pár lépést a Fő téren, majd a Bér-patakon átkelve forduljunk jobbra! Innen 1,3 km-en keresztül a Z+ jelzést kövessük! A kereszteződésben térjünk balra a Z jelzésre! 1,2 km után ebből ágazik ki a Z▲ jelzés, ami a célunkig vezet (összesen 2,6 km).

- A faluban a KRESZ szabályainak megfelelően ingyenesen parkolhatunk, érdemes a település szélén parkolóthelyet keresni.
