The Rauenstein is a 303-metre-high table mountain in Saxon Switzerland, which rises between the towns of Wehlen and Rathen. It is best known for its exciting ridge path, which is open to tourists.

This path leads over numerous steps carved into the sandstone, over iron bridges and ladders directly over the jagged rocky ridge of the mountain. It offers hikers an adventurous and up-close rock experience without the need for climbing equipment. From the various vantage points along the ridge, there is a comprehensive panoramic view of the Elbe valley and many striking formations of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, including Königstein Fortress, the Lilienstein and the Bastei. The plateau is also home to one of the oldest mountain restaurants in the region.
