Like walking on the back of a goat, the ridge trail leads over the Rauenstein.
From Pötzscha, a few minutes along the railway upstream along the Elbe, we encounter the marking (yellow stripe) of our path. We follow it up to the flat area at the Elbe valley edge. A beautiful view opens up of the Elbe and the town. At the beginning of the rocks, we reach the ridge trail. It takes us on some ups and downs over the ridge to the Fels Rauenstein inn. From the ridge, there are constantly changing views of the landscape, to the Bärensteine, the Bastei, and the Rathen area. From the Rauenstein viewpoint, the view extends to the Großer Winterberg. Following the marking with the red stripe, we can go over the viewpoint at Laasenstein in 45 minutes to the ferry to Rathen; from there, return by train or ship to Wehlen. The better variant is to hike from the foot of the Rauenstein, following the red stripe marking, to the Bärenstein. Passing between the Großer and Kleiner Bärenstein, we reach the Damengrund, which takes us back to our starting point in Pötzscha.
