The tower was erected on the mountain Hohe Acht, at an altitude of 747 metres.
The tower served as a gift to the silver wedding of Emperor Wilhelm II and Empress Auguste Viktoria as well as to the memory of Emperor Wilhelm I.
The magnificent views across the landscape of the Eifel region provide plenty of compensation for the tortuous ascent. The starting point is a parking site for hikers by the L 10.

- from Koblenz: A61 to highway exit Wehr. Continue in the direction of Nürburg/Nürburgring/ right to Hohe Acht
