Born from the interplay of the elements
For millions of years, they were in a fateful conflict in the Eifel, the elements fire, earth, water, and air. Today, mighty volcanic cones, crystal-clear maars, and bubbling springs rest here in themselves. Elsewhere, wonder worlds of bizarre rock formations or former coral reefs majestically stretch towards the sky. Everywhere, deeply incised river valleys, gently winding streams, and deep blue lakes carve diverse faces into the landscape. And the pure natural air ruffles the lush green foliage of some gnarly beech and oak forests.
The elements have raged, giving the Eifel its distinctive and characterful profile.
Even today, the primal force of this origin story is often visible, always perceptible. Nothing is staged, everything is genuine.
Take your time to absorb the life force of this unique landscape on a hike or bike tour.
