The Farrenkopf, 790 metres above sea level, is located in the Hausach-Gutach district on the Westweg and is the steepest ascent from Hausach on the route from Pforzheim to Basel.
The section of the Westweg was created in 1903 by the Hausach Black Forest Association. The mountain is also known as the "Badischer Rigi", the "Farnberg" or the "Farbe", as the people of Gutach call it. The unique view and the location in the landscape make it understandable why enthusiastic hikers compare the Farrenkopf with the Rigi in Switzerland. The Gutach Black Forest Association has painstakingly created this unique vantage point overlooking the many valleys and mountains as far as the Kaiserstuhl, the Rhine plain and the Vosges mountains.
The attractively furnished "Hasemannhütte" invites you to linger and relax. It bears this name in memory of the famous black painter Prof. Wilhelm Hasemann, who, together with Prof. Curt Liebich, was one of the most important representatives of the "Gutach Painters' Colony" and made the Gutach Valley and the Black Forest famous throughout the world with his paintings.
