Tamar Valley

It is bounded on the west by the ridge Mojstrovka (2366 m), Travnik (2379 m), Jalovška škrbina (2138 m) and Goličica (2394 m), and on the east by the ridge Ponca. At the foot of the valley, not far from the mountain hut, there is a beautiful spring of the Nadiža, which sinks into the gravel quite quickly, and its water flows into the plain again like the Sava Dolinka near Zelenci. The most visible place above the Tamar valley is certainly the most beautiful Slovenian mountain Jalovec (2645 m). Its panorama is also depicted in the sign of the Mountaineering Association of Slovenia. The Tamar Valley is actually a continuation of the Planica Valley, which is world famous for its ski jumps. In summer, Tamar hut is a popular destination for cyclists, and in winter there are well-maintained cross-country trails. In the Tamar valley, immediately after descending from the forest, the hiker is first greeted by the chapel of Marija Pomagaj, followed by the already mentioned mountain lodge.
