The Schuhflicker is one of the three limestone mountains in Grossarltal and a striking summit with beautiful views as far as Lake Schuhflickersee.

The Schuhflicker is one of the three limestone mountains in Grossarltal, alongside the Höllwand and Draugstein, and is a striking summit destination above the Aualm. The mountain consists of two peaks; the front peak is called the Arlspitze. Several climbing routes lead up to it, but they are only recommended for experienced climbers.

An old legend surrounds the Schuhflicker: two cobblers are said to have once gone up the mountain on a Sunday instead of going to church. As punishment, they were turned to stone and, according to legend, must spend eternity mending the shoes of those who are bound for hell.

Directions

Drive by car or hiking taxi to the district of Unterberg, then continue on Rattersbergweg towards Lainholzbauern and further to the parking lot just below the Aualm. A fee of € 5.00 is payable at the barrier on the path to the mountain hut.

Parking

Parking just below the Aualm. You could also park directly at the Aualm, but there are not many parking spaces there, so we recommend choosing the parking lot below the mountain hut.
