Mit seiner Hilfe gelang es schließlich am 27. September 1804 von Trafoi aus über eine als sehr schwierige geltende Route den Gipfel zu bezwingen. Der heute am häufigsten begangene Normalweg führt von der Payerhütte (3020 m) aus in circa 4-5 Stunden Stunden zum Gipfel.
