Der Laber, an dessen Fuß Oberammergau liegt, ist 1.686 m hoch und liegt im Naturpark Ammergauer Alpen. Vom Gipfel bietet sich ein fantastischer Rundblick auf Estergebirge, Karwendel und Wetterstein. Im Winter ist allerdings besondere Vorsicht geboten: Der Gipfel grenzt an Wald-Wild-Schongebiete (WWS), die dem Schutz sensibler Wildtiere dienen.
Wald-Wild-Schongebiete sind Schutzgebiete, die im Winter nicht betreten oder befahren werden sollten. Ziel ist es, durch ein naturverträgliches Verhalten den Lebensraum von Wildtieren wie Raufußhühnern und Schalenwild zu bewahren.
Besonders wichtig ist es, diese Schongebiete im Winter strikt einzuhalten. Warum? Die Südwesthänge am Laber bieten ein vergleichsweise warmes Überwinterungsgebiet für Rotwild, das dort auch gefüttert wird. Gleichzeitig benötigen Gams und Birkwild am Laber ungestörte Rückzugsräume, um den Winter unbeschadet zu überstehen.
Kleiner Tipp: Aktiviere unten rechts den Kartenlayer "Hinweise und Sperrungen", so werden alle Schutzgebiete sichtbar und du kannst dich optimal auf deine Tour vorbereiten.

Die Touren zum Laber sind bequem mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln erreichbar:
Von Murnau am Staffelsee verkehren regelmäßig Busse und Bahnen nach Oberammergau, dem idealen Ausgangspunkt für den Aufstieg. Von München aus dauert die Anreise mit Bahn oder Bus nur ca. 2 Stunden - eine stressfreie und umweltfreundliche Möglichkeit, in die Ammergauer Alpen zu gelangen.
