Der Breitenberg, der nördlichste Ausläufer der Daumengruppe, ist 1893 m hoch und liegt im Ostrachtal. Er ist von Bad Oberdorf über den Häbelesgund oder von Hinterstein aus über die Älpe-Alpe zu erreichen. Über den leichten Klettersteig Hohe Gänge ist er auch mit der Rotspitze verbunden.
