Lovely circular route from Hinterstein over the Breitenberg, usually only taken by a few hikers due to the lack of mountain railways and eating opportunities.

In the upper Ostrach Valley, in Hinterstein, we start our route, which takes us on a relatively long ascent via the beautifully situated Älpe-Alpe to the summit of the Breitenberg. In 1964, this was the site of a landslide: the entire ridge east of the Breitenberg then collapsed into the valley, burying forests and meadows under its rocks. From the Breitenberg, we descend into Häbelesgund and the Retterschwanger Valley. Over the Jägersteig, we return to Hinterstein.
