Das Brauneck ist ein prominenter Aussichtsberg hoch über dem malerischen Isarwinkel. Bei guter Sicht bestaunt man ein Panorama, das im Norden bis hin zur Bayerischen Landeshauptstadt München, im Süden über die Gipfel des Karwendelgebirges und im Südwesten bis zur Zugspitze reicht. Im Sommer lockt das breite Wanderwegenetz viele Besucher an.
Gleitschirmflieger nutzen die idealen Windbedingungen, um direkt unterhalb des Brauneck-Gipfels zu starten. Im Winter verwandeln sich die verschneiten Hänge des Braunecks in ein Paradies für Schneesportler. Auch die Hüttenlandschaft am Brauneck sucht ihresgleichen. Viele bewirtschaftete Almen laden sommers wie winters zum Einkehrschwung ein.
