The Allalinhorn is part of the Allalin group and shares this impressive mountain landscape with three other four-thousand-metre peaks: the Alphubel, the Strahlhorn and the Rimpfischhorn. As one of the easiest and most climbed four-thousand-metre peaks in the Alps, the Allalinhorn attracts mountaineers from all over the world, not least because of the Metro Alpin, which leads up to the summit at an altitude of around 570 metres, making access comparatively easy.
The Allalinhorn is located seven kilometres south-west of Saas-Fee and is surrounded by four imposing glaciers: the Fee Glacier to the north, the Hohlaub Glacier to the east, the Allalin Glacier to the south-east and the Mellich Glacier to the south-west. Four ridges strive towards the summit, but apart from the east ridge, also known as the Hohlaubgrat, all of them are lost under a thick ice cap in the summit area.
To the west of the Allalin lies the Feekopf (3887 metres above sea level) and the imposing Alphubel (4206 metres above sea level), separated by the Feejoch (3808 metres above sea level) and the Alphubeljoch (3770 metres above sea level). To the south, the Allalin Pass (3552 metres above sea level) separates the Rimpfischhorn (4199 metres above sea level) from the Allalinhorn.
