Die Rhone entspringt am Fuss des Rhonegletschers und wird dort auf Deutsch auch „der Rotten“ genannt. Nach dem Verlassen der Alpen durchfließt sie den Genfersee und mündet nach 800 Kilöometern in Südfrankreich mit einem Delta ins Mittelmeer.
