Nemesleányfalu szinte egyidős a magyar állammal, már 1082-ben találunk okleveles említést a településről „Predium Lean” néven. A mai temető helyén állt az akkori falu, középpontjában a kis, egyhajós templommal. A falu a török uralom idején elnéptelenedett, majd a 16. század végén a vissza-, illetve betelepülő lakosok már kissé távolabb, a település mai helyén építkeztek. A templom köré már korábban is temetkeztek, de miután a falu „odébbállt”, az elhagyatott épület környékét állandó jelleggel temetőnek kezdték használni.
A Szent Jakabnak szentelt, román stílusú templom a 11-12. században épülhetett, bár feltárás híján nem sokat tudni az Árpád-kori romról. A nyugati homlokzati fala maradt meg viszonylag épen, középen félköríves záródású ablaknyílással. A kis rom jellegzetessége, hogy még álló falát és az omladékot úgy nőtte be a növényzet, mindenekelőtt egy girbe-gurbán tekergő, vastag indákkal rákúszó borostyán, mintha fává változott volna.

- Buszmegállót legközelebb Nagyvázsonyban találunk, a helyközi buszokról a Nagyvázsony, autóbusz-váróterem megállóban szálljunk le.

- A buszmegállótól induljunk dél felé a Z jelzés mentén, ez elvezet Nemesleányfaluba. Ott is a Z jelzést kövessük, egészen a temetőhöz balra kiágazó, jelzetlen ösvényig (1,8 km).
- Ha autóval érkezünk, és Nemesleányfalun parkolunk, a Z jelzésen induljunk el a temető irányába. 5-600 m múlva érkezünk a romhoz, ahova bal felé, egy jelzetlen ösvény vezet.
