Templom állott, most kőhalom – mondhatnánk Kölcsey sorait némileg átírva a kisörsi templomromról. A Kővágóörs melletti egykori település templomának helyén ma már csak egy rövid falmaradványt és egymásra hányt köveket találunk.

Kisörs falu neve először 1373-ban szerepel oklevélben. Egyhajós, egyenes záródású falusi templomáról sajnos nem sok adat maradt fenn. A 13. században épülhetett, de a 17-18. században már romként emlegettték.

A 13. században a ma Kővágóörsként ismert települést „Szent-László-Örsnek” hívták, ugyanis évszázadokig nagy kultusz övezte László királyt a környéken, egy legenda szerint még vizet is fakasztott a Káli-medence lakóinak. Így talán nem véletlen, hogy Kisörs falu templomát is az ő tiszteletére emelték. A kis település a török időkben pusztulhatott el, miután 1552-ben Veszprém elesett. A helységnevekben az –örs utótag a honfoglaló Örs nemzetségre utal, akiknek itt volt a szálláshelye. (A közeli, Salföld melletti Kisörspuszta nem azonos a középkori Kisörssel. Az előbbit korábban Bugyberek néven ismerték.)

A 11-12. században a Káli-medencében aprófalvak sora létesült, neveiket sokszor csak a templomromok őrzik. Kővágóörs környékén ilyen falvak voltak Kisörs, Sóstókál és Ecsér is. Kisörsből mára szinte semmi nem maradt az okleveles említéseken kívül, sajnos templomának maradványait romnak sem nevezhetjük igazán. Bár a 20. század elején beszámolók szerint még talán tényleg állt itt egy felismerhető épületmaradvány, ma már csupán egy kőhalmot találunk a sűrű erdő szélén, egy falra emlékeztető részlettel. Régészeti feltárást soha nem végeztek a környékén, amelyet sűrűn benőtt a növényzet. Ha nem tudnánk – és egy tájékoztató tábla nem hívná fel a figyelmünket –, semmi nem utalna arra, hogy egy középkori falu egykori templomának köveit tapossuk.

A romot meglehetősen nehéz megközelíteni, mert a Rákóczi Ferenc utca meghosszabbításában folytatódó dűlőútról sűrű bozótban kell átvágni hozzá. A maradványok előtt elterülő széles tisztásról azonban szokatlan szögből vehetjük szemügyre a Káli-medencét övező hegyeket, így a Szentbékkálla melletti Öreg-hegyet és Fekete-hegyet. Valaki még egy fából ácsolt, fedett "trónust" is elhelyezett ide, ameéyről gyönyörködhetünk a kilátásban.

Directions

  • A buszmegállóból a faluból kifelé, nyugatra induljunk el. Az Y-elágazásban a bal oldali Rákóczi utcát válasszuk, ez vezet ki a településről. Az utca végén egyenesen menjünk tovább a földúton, majd jobb kéz felé, kb. 250 méter múlva térjünk jobbra, és a bozóton átvágva séráljunk ki a tisztásra. Ha szemben állunk a Káli-medencével, a tisztás bal oldalán húzódó erdősávban keressük romokat (összesen kb. 650 m).
